Managing children on home oxygen therapy
PPLOG was established in 2016 with the aim to develop a paediatric forum to share and discuss some common problems associated with managing children on home oxygen therapy.
Our rationale for developing the PPLOG discharge bundle was because most of the references and evidence were out of date. The BTS guidelines (Balfour-Lynn et al, 2005) are over 14 years old, however still in use. We aim to be the bridge to peer-reviewed evidence-based information.
Since the launching of PPLOG about 3 years ago, the demand has been tremendous. To date over 200 professionals have attended the study days. In order, to make it as convenient as possible for professionals to attend. PPLOG has held study days in Whittington Hospital, Guys & St Thomas Hospital, Mile End Hospital and South West England hospitals. A further 100 health care professionals have also received PPLOG presentations through PPLOG members attending various meetings/events.

RCN Accreditation
The publication of the PPLOG discharge bundle has made a huge difference in how home oxygen therapy in children is now being delivered within London. Interestingly, there have been requests in the use of the PPLOG discharge bundle from Manchester, Birmingham, East of England, the South West of England and other areas within England.

In August 2019, PPLOG was very happy to have been awarded RCN Accreditation for all future Paediatric Pan London Oxygen Group Study Days. Therefore, this ensures all our study days are part of CPD credits or used for revalidation.
However, PPLOG and RCN state that the group & organisation cannot confirm the competence of any practitioner. The competence will need to be signed off within your local unit/service by a health professional that has attended our PPLOG study days.
Further information about PPLOG can be found on the RCN website for CYP as a case study:
